FF 13 Review
Graphics
The graphics are incredible. There are a handful of low resolution textures in the game, but there is so much point in very near everything that it’s hard not to be impressed. Any game of this scale would be proud to have graphics like these.
Tale
The tale provides ample twists and turns to fit any Final Fantasy fan. The ending is fantastic, but it isn’t all pleased (no more spoilers than that, though). This is most likely the best part of the game, hands down.
Battle Gameplay
The battle system is fun but flawed. There are one or two glitches that happen far too often. The excellent news is that these glitches don’t occur in very many fights.
Leveling System
The leveling system is fantastic fun! It keeps the leveling challenging enough without making it a “grind fest”. It’s much like FFX’s leveling system, which was one of the better systems throughout the series anyway.
Pacing and Exploration
The game is the most linear Final Fantasy to date, beating out FFX in that department. This linearity lets the tale and pacing be crafted to near-perfection. But, exploration is extremely restricted as a result.
Continuing Playability
There are plenty of things to do after you’ve beaten the game. You can become a lot stronger after you’ve beaten the game, and side missions are plentiful. It is right, but, that there really aren’t any mini games to further entertain the player.
Import Friendly?
There is no way to really consider this game import friendly. It will play easily enough on American and European PS3s, but there is just too much reliance on the Japaense language itself. Without knowing Japanese, it’s essentially impossible to know what’s going on in the tale.
