Video Games- Advantages And Disadvantages
Todays kids live in an era when everyone has to have the newest rapid fire mods and many would do whatever thing to have their dads get them rapid fire chip. Many parents view video games as a way to keep their kids out of the way and thus the modding xbox controller is the latest babysitter- a way for parents to get on with their jobs without worrying about their children. Are there any consequences of this mentality? Let’s consider just a few pros and cons of this new fad.
Advantages
* Social Skills- It has been proven that children who are normally shy have been said to be able to become more sociable after engaging in video games.
* Minimizes Pain- children who have some illness or injury find video games reassuring. They help them redirect their minds on the game as a replacement for of the pain they’re feeling.
* Creativity Boost- majority of vid games involve a hind of creativity. Children are able to learn their creative selves.
* Cognetive skills Improved- nearly all games have parts that require the player to solve some sort of problem and mostly some skill is involved. Kids learn to reckon on their feet and find solutions to situations.
* Self Confidence- all children feel a sense of accomplishment in the games they play. Being able to outrival in something even video games will boost their self confidence in other things.
Disadvantages
* Affects Eyesight- spending long periods of time in front of a screen isn’t excellent for your eyes. The childs whole life will be affected if his/her eyesight gets hurt that early.
* Robs time- we all know that video games are really addictive and once kids are hooked, their schoolwork and other activities will be affected greatly. They won’t delight in a healthy childhood.
* No physical work involved- many kids who are hooked on games end up becoming obese. Fellow children like to tease obese kids and being overweight will result in other health issues.
* Waste of money- reckon of all the hundreds of dollars spend on getting the latest games or even the electricity consumed. That money could have been place to better use somewhere else.
* Violence- today’s games aren’t innocuous! They are full of gore and violence. According to experts, children who have been exposed to violent games have a higher chance to become violent themselves and I don’t know even criminals.
* Parent’s not doing their jobs- letting the games watch over the kids is very terrible parenting. Many families lack needed communication because of these games.
There are the facts. Yes, they do have their advantages but it would be wise to reckon twice before letting your child have his way. A small more supervision will do a lot- lets not allow the games do our jobs as parents.
