Mage Leveling Guide

From Planet Of Warcraft Guides

As a Mage you have some fantastic advantages while leveling. Of course, many classes have their pros and cons but a Mage is fantastic to level because he can make his own food and water, teleport to cities from one to another continent and is able to Blink which also reduces run-time. As for the best leveling erect, the opinions are divided. Some would swear with the Frost erect because it is more mana well-organized. I but, would go for a Fire/Arcane erect for the simple reason that you take down the enemies quicker and the Arcane tree will provide you with mana regeneration and more stats.

Lets initially have a look at the full Fire talent tree though.

Mage Leveling Erect: Fire

As a Fire Mage you can start attacking with either a Fireball or a Pyroblast, shoot a 2nd Fireball and then a Fire Blast. If the target isn’t dead yet you just Frost Nova, take a step back and make another Fireball+Fire Blast combo. Blast Wave and Dragon Breath will also become available at a later level and they can do the finishing touches as well.

Now why I didn’t take Improved Scorch is because you don’t use Scorch until you get the Hot Streak talent. Molten Shields, Passionate Payback and Blazing Speed are not de rigueur for leveling purposes. I did choose Impact (I know many Mages skip this one) because it’s nice for leveling. If you manage to use three or four Fire based spells before the mob reaches you, you have a 30-40% chance to stun the mob for two seconds before he even reaches you.

I took a bit of Frost because of the reduced mana cost of both Frost and Fire spells through the talent called Precision.

Another selection, and my favorite, is to go Arcane+Fire which is a nice combination.

Mage Leveling Erect: Fire/Arcane

This erect has a mana preserving advantage because 60% of the regeneration continues while casting. You will also be surprised with the amount of critical hits you will get with this erect which will also refund 30% of the spell’s costs. You will also have 10% more Spirit and 15% more Intellect. Arcane Concentration will allow about 10% of your spells to be cast free of costs.

This erect will not give you AoE spells likes Blast Wave and Dragon Breath but will be mainly focused on Fireballs, Pyroblasts and Fire Blasts. Your Arcane Explosion will be boosted a bit so that is a excellent choice for AoE purposes. Presence of Mind and Arcane Power will give you two extra fantastic abilities that will cause high burst hurt when needed.

You can choose to go full Frost but especially in the initially 30 levels you will be a lot worse of than the builds stated above. Shatter then becomes nice, and later you got Icy Veins, Water Essential, Cold Snap etc. but the hurt output of this erect isn’t as high as compared to the ones above.

The Proven Strategy To Level Mages In WoW

If you are looking for a way to increase your leveling speed and get over the dull part of leveling with your WoW Mage, you have come to the right place. This mage leveling guide help you to ding 80 with your mage much quicker than before.

Your initially step is to choose a race that is perfect for leveling a twink. For example, if you roll a Gnome you will have 5% more mana and the racial ability Escape Artist. This skill will help you to escape in situations when other races would be immobilized, die and have to walk back to their corpse.

The Second step is to go for a proven talent erect. My mage leveling guide recommends you to aim for a Frost leveling spec. Frost mages have one fantastic advantage: They are masters of AoE hurt.

A Frost Mage can bomb whole groups of mobs – that means that he can deal AoE hurt to mobs that stand very close to each other. Image the situation: You mount up and ride around to get lots of mobs to attack you. Ride back and forth until all mobs are close to each other. Then you just freeze them with a frost nova. After blinking away from the group, the Frost Mage austerely has to cast Blizzard and Cone of Cold until every mob drops dead!

Every time you do this, you can easily kill off 10 mobs or even more. This is extremely mana-well-organized and the talent erect that my mage leveling guide recommends.

The last step is to optimize your gear and equipment for quick leveling. Either buy green items with intelligence and stamina at the auction house or visit instances. Of course, the better equipment waits for you in the instances – it’s also one of the few ways to get gear with spell hurt on it – but you need a level 80 friend to pull you through.

Once you can visit the outland you won’t have any problems finding gear with lots of spell hurt and increased critical strike chance.

That’s my overview. My guide for beginners. Have lots of fun leveling your Frost Mage!

The 3 Must-Have Major Glyphs For Fire Mages

If you want a really powerful fire mage and dominate in PvE as well as in PvP, choose the following glyphs for maximum burning carnage on the front line.

Blizzard gave us a lot of additional options to tune and wteak our characters with Glyphs. I’ll make it simple for you.

Also, we’re just going to look at the Major Glyphs because they’re the ones that carry all the power.

And before I forget…

If you didn’t hit 80 with your mage yet, these glyphs will give you a slight boost for your mage leveling.

Initially of all, let me recap the Glyphes that are excellent for fire mages and then I’ll tell you when to pick which one.

Sounds excellent?

Fireball – Level 15 – Major Glyph

Increases the critical strike chance of Fireball by 5%, but removes the hurt over time effect.

Scorch – Level 20 – Major Glyph

Increases the hurt of your Scorch spell by 20%

Living Bomb – Level 60 – Major Glyph

The periodic hurt from your Living Bomb can now be critical strikes.

Molten Armor – Level 62 – Major Glyph

Your Molten Armor spell grants an additional 20% of your spirit as critical strike rating.

Go get these glyphs:

Get Fireball as soon as you hit 15. You’re going to use Fireball all the time, so this Glyph becomes really effective. Fire builds are all about crit. rating and the DoT isn’t so fantastic anyway.

At level 30, grab Scorch.

One thing: If you want more in-depth breakdown and reasoning, read a mage guide. This instant list is only an overview for people who want to push their DPS.

Once you have Fireball and Scorch you don’t have to worry about Glyphs until you hit 60. Now you get additional fantastic glyphs to equip, but I recommend Molten Armor as a must-have.

Why is that?

As a replacement for of making one spell stronger, this Glyph increases your overall global crit. ratio. So, Molten Armor it is.

You can also grab Living Bomb, it’s a fantastic Glyph, but you might as well leave it at that. A few more levels and you’re a hurt dealing machine that can dominate the battlegrounds.

To speed things up, grab a solid mage leveling guide. The sooner you can hit the arenas, the better. Now the real fun starts for mages!

Fire Mage Leveling Guide – The Talent Build For Fast Leveling

But before we irrevocably dive in, we need to get over the ancient Fire vs Frost debate. Which leveling spec is the best for you depends a lot on your unique playing style.

If focusing on a hard but effective approach if for you, then go for frost.

This mage leveling guide is for players that want to focus on the fire talent erect.

Unsure which one you prefer? You can test them both and see which one works better for you, then stick to it.

With this out of our way, let’s head over to the leveling spec itself.

This is how I recommend you to spend all your talent points as soon as you get them:

  • 5 Improved Fireball
  • 5 Ignite
  • 1 Pyroblast
  • 3 Planet in Flames
  • 2 Burning Determination
  • 3 Improved Scorch
  • 3 Master of Fundamentals
  • 3 Critical Mass
  • 5 Fire Power
  • 1 Combustion
  • 3 Pyromaniac
  • 1 Blast Wave
  • 2 Molten Fury
  • 3 Empowered Fire
  • 1 Dragons Breath
  • 3 Hot Streak
  • 1 Firestarter
  • 5 Burnout
  • 1 Living Bomb

Once you have all the core talents, I suggest you to invest in some minor vital ones and then switch to Arcane.

  • 3 Incineration
  • 1 Fire Starter
  • 2 Arcane Subtlety
  • 3 Arcane Focus
  • 5 Arcane Concentration
  • 3 Spell Impact
  • 3 Student of the Mind

The fire spec is for players who like the straight-forward method more than complex strategies. It’s straight forward hit-them-with-a-club style play.

And since a fire mage normally fights only one mob at a time, the chances of being overwhelmed are smaller than when playing a frost mage. This can indeed be helpful with mage leveling.

One more thing though:

Although you’re a fire mage, you shoud still use Arcane or Frost spells in situations when it makes sense. I like to view spells as tools and if the opportunity arises, I often use Frost Nova on mobs or Blink away if I must.

For quick leveling I recommend the following approach:

Mount up and pull about five then Frostnova them while getting some distance. Then use all your AoE spells: Arcane Explosion, Blast Wave and Dragons Breath.

Mage Guide To World of Warcrafts Squishy Damage Dealers

When it comes to WoW, I reckon mages are one of the most fun classes of all. They feel more quick-paced than for example a hunter, paladin or warrior. You can kill off a lot of mobs at once using your area of effect spells and you can also add lots of value to every raid or PvP party.

Some players look down on mages because they are very powerful but still a real push-over when you get close to them.

In person, I don’t like to weight and compare each of the classes with each other. I reckon of them as specialists like chess pieces. Each class has a purpose and a set of strengths and weaknesses. And depending on the situation at hand a mage is very useful or nearly useless.

Mage Professions

Let’s look at some of the professions that suit a excellent mage:

Mages usually choose Tailoring for their primary profession. The fantastic thing is that all the materials you need are dropped by mobs and since you don’t “have” to make bandages you can use them without buying whatever thing.

As with most other mage guide, my suggestion is, go with Enchanting!

It works really well with Tailoring and you can disenchant items you gather and sell the stuff you get at the Auction House.

Alchemy and Herbalism are also viable professions for a mage, simpler to level up but don’t produce whatever thing you couldn’t buy in the AH. The items you can produce fill up your health and mana so you don’t have to buy foods or drinks.

Mage Builds

Now let’s look at some of the most basic mage builds without going into too much point about how you should spend each talent point.

Hardly anyone focuses completely on Arcane for obvious reasons. Which leaves us with two basic Builds:

Fire Mage – If you’ve read a mage guide before, you know this one’s fantastic for the early stages of the game. You can kill quest mobs quick by sniping them with fire spells. With this erect you don’t have to reckon about a fancy skill rotation, you will always burn through all your mana in no time.

Frost Mage – Frost mages can take on 10 or more mobs real-time. Frost mages have a better mana-efficiency – their spells are cheaper and you don’t use up your mana all at once. Fire mages use up their mana in spikes – when they burst out hurt – while frost mages use their mana more consistently.

There you go.

This is everything you need to know to get started with a Mage Toon in WoW.

Go out and gather some XP, then come back to read a more in-depth WoW mage guide.

Mage Leveling Guide – The Only Real Way To Level Fast

You doubtless found your way here looking for a way to level quicker with your mage toon. This mage leveling guide will show you the secret to ultra quick leveling.

Tried out tons of builds and glyphs trying to make leveling just a small bit more quicker?

It’s very right that a excellent erect helps you level quicker – and you should try to find a decent erect. But tweaking your erect, glyphs and equip is more like tweaking the engine of a car.

If you tweak a weak engine that runs slowly, you get a slight increase in speed, but because the potential isn’t there, you won’t get a very impressive result.

But if you tweak a sports engine car and get just a small bit more of its potential to come out, just slight incremental increases can take you very far.

So the question is, how do you switch from a weak engine to a powerful one?

Read on … I will tell you.

Planet of Warcraft was designed so you get the most amount of xp as you advance through the adventures and experiences. The developers don’t want you to grind the same mob over and over and over. They are game designers, craftsmen of fun.

So what should you do as a replacement for?

Of course, doing quests, duh! In general, questing give you the most XP for your time. But… and this is a huge but… there are exceptions.

And here’s where the most powerful tweaking comes in.

Throughout the game you often come across a quest that sounds really excellent and epic. You place in all this time and effort, then you return, rubbing your hands as you look forward to the huge reward that surely awaits you .. and … nothing. A few meager xp and a crappy item you can’t even sell in the auction house.

That my friend, is a junk quest.

The single largest reason why leveling 1-80 takes so long.

If you didn’t do junk quests you could get to 80 in under a weeks time.

Fortunately, if you’re looking for a excellent mage leveling guide, many excellent players already did most of the hard work for you.

The inferior ones come in the shape of online articles you have to print out or constantly switch back and forth between the game and the guide, reading up what comes next and so on.

They give you a excellent questing path but they don’t save you time. The interrupt the flow of the game which is very annoying.

There are also in-game addons that work as a mage leveling guide. They show and arrow on screen to tell you exactly where to go next and what to do, cutting right through all the distractions. Follow the simple instructions disregarding everything else and you have your level 80 mage very soon.
